An organization has been created with the stated goal of producing space telescopes for everyone. SpaceScope Technology was founded to promote, design, build, and launch space telescopes any person can use.
Astronomy students graduate each year into a world that is not prepared to use their skills. New space projects are making Earth’s skies increasingly difficult for astronomy. Space telescopes launched by various governments are wonderful, but they are extremely expensive and time on them is limited. SpaceScope Technology is a non-profit that was started with the goal of creating space telescopes for every person who uses a computer.
Technology evolves. In the past, for-profit companies tried and failed to make space telescopes a reality. There is no longer a technological reason why our society cannot have space telescopes for everyone. SpaceScope Technology (a 501c3 non-profit) was created to meet this need, and to make space telescopes a reality everyone can experience.
The resolution of these telescopes will not approach the quality of space telescopes released by governments. Nevertheless, the telescopes will be adequate to support real science and to be infinitely superior to terrestrial-based scopes, especially on certain wavelengths.
Space-based telescopes from SpaceScope Technology are designed to solve several problems that have caused problems in the past. They can do surveys, including being used to identify asteroids that may pose a threat. The mission times are long. They will be designed to be repaired and upgraded. With enough telescopes, viewing time should not be a limit. Their plan is for modern, sophisticated devices that take full advantage of innovations developed in the past few years.
